Chapter 16, Problem 6WIO
Summary Introduction

To explain:

If a researcher put HPV (human papillomavirus) and T cells in the same petri dish then which step of HPV replication would fail?

Concept introduction:

HPV stands for Human papillomavirus that leads to human papillomavirus infection. The infection results in precancerous lesion or warts. This symptom increases the chances of cancer of mouth, cervix, penis, vulva, throat, vagina or anus. The typical spread of the virus is from skin-to-skin contact, during sexual mating, by smoking or with poor immune system.

An antimicrobial drug binds to the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme, preventing it from working. Which of the following is true of this drug?     It would inhibit early replication steps of some viruses, but not affect normal eukaryotic cell activity.     It would directly interfere with translation of some viral proteins and some eukaryotic proteins.     It would block assembly/maturation steps of some viruses, and interfere with translation in eukaryotic cells.     It would interfere with release of newly formed viruses from a host cell, but not affect eukaryotic cells.     It would interfere with protein synthesis in bacteria, but not affect eukaryotic ribosomes.     It would interfere with mRNA transcription in bacteria and viruses, but not affect eukaryotic transcription.
Could you please assist with question number 1? If you could explain it in the most simplistic terms that would be great. The previous response made absolutely no sense.
All viral genomes contain nucleic acid, either DNA or RNA but not both. Viral replication is the formation of biological viruses during the infection process in the target host cell. Viruses must first enter the host cell before viral replication can occur. After gaining entry into a cell, the viral genome has to be first replicated using either the host DNA polymerase or RNA polymerase You are studying two viruses: Virus A is an enveloped RNA virus Virus B is non-enveloped DNA virus Which of the above viruses is likely to have the lowest mutation rate in the host cell? O Virus A because it uses the host RNA polymerase which has lower error rate than DNA polymerase. O Virus A because it uses the host DNA polymerase which has lower error rate than RNA polymerase. O Virus B because it uses the host DNA polymerase which has lower error rate than RNA polymerase. O Virus B because it uses the host RNA polymerase which has lower error rate than DNA polymerase.
