a.
To determine:
Whether B cells deficiency would have greater impact on immune system or T cell deficiency.
Introduction:
Adaptive immunity is also called as the acquired immune system. It is a selective immunity in which B or T lymphocytes are involved. The two subdivisions of an adaptive immunity are: cell mediated immunity and humoral immunity.
b.
To determine:
Whether a person would agree with a colleague who is suggesting that a patient (with low level of antibodies) has received vaccinations for broad spectrum of common pathogens. Also determine the treatment that could be beneficial for the patient.
Introduction:
Vaccine contains an antigen or an attenuated pathogen which is harmless to the human body. The vaccine is used to generate the active immune response causing the disease. When vaccine administered into the body, the antigens generate a primary response. This causes the activation of naïve B cells. The activated B cells undergo division which results in the formation of plasma cell and memory cells. The memory cells retain the memory of antigens and after the exposure to an antigen it triggers secondary immune response.
