Contact dermatitis is an example of a disease caused by the Type IV hypersensitivity reaction and is caused when T cells activate against the antigens displayed on the cells of the body itself. Type IV immune dysfunction is also known as delayed hypersensitivity because; the symptoms arise after several days following the second contact with an antigen.
