Number of proton = atomic number
Calculation :
From periodic atomic number of carbon is 6.
Therefore, number of proton in carbon is 6.
Now, one proton is added then number of proton is 6+1 =7
Therefore, now atomic number will be 7.
From periodic table element with atomic number 7 is nitrogen.

Therefore, element is nitrogen.
