Concept explainers
How does the age of most atoms compare with the age of the solar system?
To Compare: The age of most atoms with the age of solar system.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Atoms are building block of matter. Approximately 118 elements are known till date.
The heavier naturally formed atoms are manufactured by fusion reaction in the hot high-pressure cauldron deep within stars. Heavier elements are formed when huge star implode and explode. This process occurred during the formation of solar system as well. So, most of atoms were formed during formation of solar system.
Conclusion:
Most atoms are as old as the solar system.
