Interpretation:

The difference between the structure of a fatty acid with a cis double bond and structure of a fatty acid with a trans double bond should be determined.

Concept introduction:

The fatty acids are the main constituents of a triglyceride. It is a kind of lipids which is utilized by the body to stock energy. The lipids are simply a kind of molecule which incorporates, amid other things, fatty acids. Triglycerides are secondary source of energy that the body can utilized in the incident that there is not sufficient sugar inside the system. As fatty acids differ in conditions of chemical features, they all contain some common basic qualities.

In cis and trans the major difference is that the two H atoms are present on the opposite side in trans and same side of the double bond in cis.
