Chapter 19, Problem 13CP
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The blood type which can be safely transfused into a person with type O blood.

Introduction:

The blood group O is a universal donor, which lacks the presence of the antigens on the surface of the red blood cells. The blood groups A, B and AB have antigens on their surface, which will react with the auto antibodies generated against these antigens in the body of the person with blood group O. Therefore, the person with O blood group can take blood by transfusion from the person with blood group O only.
