Question
Chapter 19, Problem 55E
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The reason as to why the property of acids to react with metals and liberate hydrogen gas limited to certain metals is to be stated. Two metals that release hydrogen gas from an acid and two that do not release hydrogen gas are to be stated.
Concept introduction:
Acids react with metals to release hydrogen gas along with the formation of the acid salt. This reaction is a displacement reaction. Only the highly reactive and the moderately reactive metals displace hydrogen gas from acids. The inert metals do not react with acids.
