Introduction:
Lipids are organic compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in the ratio 1:2:1 (approximately) and in low amount phosphorus, sulfur or nitrogen. Lipids include fatty acids, glycerides, steroids, phospholipids, and glycolipid that are a source of energy in the body, they contain more energy than carbohydrate (in grams). These are the essential structural components of the plasma membrane.
