Introduction:

A body which has excess or deficit number of electrons as compared to number of protons is known as charged body. Charges flow from high electric potential to low electric potential.

Ground is considered to be at zero potential. Whenever, a charged object is touched to the ground, it gets discharged and becomes neutral. Hence, it is said to lose its charge.

Conclusion:

The object gets discharged when it is touched to the ground.
