Chapter 21.3, Problem 2MQ
Summary Introduction

Nitrogen fixation is an important phenomenon by which atmospheric nitrogen is converted into ammonia. This cycle constitute the processes of nitrification and denitrification which lead to complete oxidation of ammonia into nitrate ions and its conversion to biological nitrogen. Ammonia is also oxidized in anaerobic condition by anaerobic bacteria in sewage and marine sediments by a process called anammox.
