Why is the following situation impossible? Two identical dust particles of mass 1 μg arefloating in empty space, far from any external sources of large gravitational or electricfields, and at rest with respect to each other. Both particles carry electric charges that areidentical in magnitude and sign. The gravitational and electric forces between the particleshappen to have the same magnitude, so each particle experiences zero net force and thedistance between the particles remains constant.
A proton has an initial velocity of1.35 × 107 m/s in the horizontal direction. It enters a uniform electric field of 8500 N/Cdirected vertically.Ignoring gravitational effects, find thetime it takes the proton to travel 0.067 mhorizontally. The mass of the protonis 1.6726 × 10−27 kg and the fundamentalcharge is 1.602 × 10−19 C .
Find the radius of curvature (in m) of the path of a 0.285 MeV proton moving perpendicularly to the 1.10 T field of a cyclotron.
