Penicillin was the first antibiotic to treat S. aureus infections but within a period of two years, the bacterium develops resistance to penicillin and then Methicillin was used as an antibiotic against S. aureus. After two years, the organism S. aureus again develops the strains which were resistant to Methicillin.
