The elevation in levels of ketone bodies may have severe consequences such as ketosis or ketoacidosis.
The disease that is associated with elevated blood glucose levels that result in the removal of blood glucose through the urinal tract is known as diabetes mellitus. The patient of diabetes has a deficiency of hormone insulin.
The glucose present in the body of a diabetic person is released off from the bodily fluids, and thus the patient remains dehydrated. In order to replenish and find the alternative to the energy source, the body of a diabetic person consumes fatty acids stored to produce ketone bodies as the source of energy. Thus ketone bodies start to accumulate in the patients of diabetics.
