Textbook Problem

What is the sequence of amino acids encoded by the DNA sequence TTG TGC TTT?

Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The sequence of amino acids encoded by the DNA sequence TTG TGC TTT has to be determined.

Concept introduction: The nucelotide triplet that encodes an amino acids is called codon. Each group of three nucleotides encodes one amino acid. There are 20 amino acid present which are encoded by differnet codon. DNA sequence is always synthesized in 5' to 3' direction. The information present in DNA is transcribe into mRNA then translated by tRNA into desired sequence.

The rule of base pairing are: A purine base Adenine (A) always pair with pyrimidine base Thymine (T) and the pyrimidine base Cytosine (C) always pair with purine base Guanine (G). The complementary strand of DNA synthesized in 3' to 5' direction.

Explanation

From the DNA sequence determine the mRNA sequence. Sequence of mRNA divided into groups of three nucleotide (Refer table 24.1). A purine base Adenine (A) always pair with pyrimidine base Thymine (U) and the pyrimidine base Cytosine (C) always pair with purine base Guanine (G)
