Introduction:
Varicella-zoster virus is the member of herpesviruses family and it causes two diseases- chickenpox (varicella) and zoster (shingles). Chickenpox is usually seen in children and young adults whereas shingles is seen in older population. In fact, it has now been established that shingles is caused by the latent form of varicella virus.
