Introduction:

The body’s immune system has mechanisms to protect it from viral pathogens. These mechanisms are weakened or lost in certain conditions, making such individuals vulnerable to viral diseases. Given that viruses are so widespread and may be quite contagious, healthcare workers must take special precautions for their own safety and that of their patients.
