The origin of each of the signal shown for dipotassium salt of glucose-1-phosphate is to be explained.

Concept Introduction:

The carbon atom attached to the single bonded oxygen atom is the anomeric carbon atom. The anomeric carbon atom is attached to one proton and one phosphate group. The splitting of a signal depends on the number of vicinal protons for the anomeric proton. Phosphorus atom also splits the vicinal protons since the nuclear spin for phosphorus atom is ±12.
