Chapter 2.5, Problem 3CYP
Summary Introduction
To summarize:
The importance of lipids in the human body.
Introduction:
Lipids are the biological molecules that do not dissolve in the water. These are obtained from the animals (fats) and plants (oils). These are made up of mostly carbon and hydrogen only, but consist of a little amount of oxygen. Lipids lack hydrophilic groups and have low solubility in the polar solvents. The most common lipids are triglycerides and phospholipids.

Describe what this nutrient (lipids fat) is and why the human body needs it for homeostasis. PLease give good examples and a good explanation.
Part One:
Your friend believes that all fats must be bad for one’s health, so he is trying to restrict his dietary fat intake to a minimum. Give him five reasons why he should never restrict his fats to a very low level. Please give a 2 to 3 sentence explanation for each.
Part Two:
Think of a meal that you regularly eat for dinner. Record it, being as specific as you can about ingredients and amounts. Analyze this meal for both its quantity and quality of fats in several sentences. Then, give this meal a makeover, optimizing the quantity and quality of fats it contains. Record the optimal meal, and describe and explain the changes you made.
Your friend is on the cross-country running team. They tell you they need to "carbo-load" ahead of their big race in a couple of days, as they want to store extra carbohydrates in their muscles.
1. Identify what macromolecule should they eat more of over the next couple of days? Identify that molecule's function.
2. Identify what food from the selection should they eat.
3. Explain how you know that food has the macromolecule they need.
