The direction of the induced current in the wire.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction states that if a conductor is placed in a changing magnetic field, an EMF is induced which leads to flow of current called induced current. The direction of the induced current can be obtained by Fleming’s right hand rule.

As per the rule,if the thumb points towards the direction in which the wire is moving and the fingers point towards the direction of the magnetic field, the palm of the right hand will point towards the direction of the induced conventional current.

As the magnetic field is downward towards the North and the motion of the wire is from north to south direction, thenby Fleming’s right hand rule, the direction of the induced current is towards the east.

Conclusion:

The direction of the induced current is towards east.
