Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Fischer projections for two D-aldoheptoses whose stereochemistry at C₃, C₄, C₅ and C₆ is the same as that of D-glucose at C₂, C₃, C₄ and C₅ are to be drawn.

Concept introduction:

When a new chiral center is created in an optically active monosaccharide molecule the arrangement of H and OH on the new chiral center can be either H at left and OH at right or H at right and OH at left. Hence two isomers can be written.
