Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The plot should be drawn by using given data and molar masses of ferritin molecules should be calculated.

Concept introduction:

Molecular mass determination by Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-gel electrophoresis:

The movement of solute particle respect with applied electrical current is known as electrophoresis, and it is called as a capillary electrophoresis, when it is conducted in capillary tube.

The migration of molecule is depends on its molar mass, the larger molecules are slowly moves towards the electrodes than the smaller molar mass containing compounds.

From the above concept the molecular mass of proteins are determined by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-gel electrophoresis.  The denatured proteins are treated with dodecyl sulfate to make large negative charge respect with length of the protein chain.

The mass of the protein is proportional to 1/ (migration time).

The migration time of protein in the gel electrophoresis is used to calculate the molar mass of protein.
