How can wear provide a self-sharpening effect on some hard faced parts?

To determine

The method of providing a self-sharpening effect on some hard-faced parts.

The various properties are required of surface which will be subjected to severe wearing conditions. These wearing conditions are hardness, corrosion resistance, impact resistance and abrasion resistance. These wear provide a self sharpening effect on the hard-faced parts. This effect is produced by adding small tungsten carbide crystals embedded in the steel alloy. The tungsten carbide crystals are applied to a surface. It leaves a very hard tungsten carbide particle and removes the steel wear.

Hard-facing is a process used to obtaining the desired properties or dimensions by using the arc or oxyacetylene fuel welding...
