Lyme disease is a tick-borne disease that is caused by bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. This bacterium gets transmitted to the host through the tick bite. The host can either be humans or animals. B.burgdorferi are one of the special types of bacteria that carries linear chromosome (as most of the bacteria carry circular chromosome), this feature makes it more interesting for study purposes.
