Concept explainers
To analyze: The human cerebrum is disproportionately large compared to the cerebrum of other animals and what advantages it gives to human beings.
Introduction: The brain is the most complex organ of the human body. It is the central organ of the nervous system. The brain consists of three main parts- The cerebrum, cerebellum, and brainstem. The cerebrum functions the sense and controls movements of a human body like hearing, touching, learning, etc. The brainstem is the middle part of the brain. It controls the movement of eyes and mouth and also regulates the heartbeat. The cerebellum is located at the back of the head and it controls the movement and maintains posture.
Explanation of Solution
Human beings are considered as the most intelligent creature of the planet earth. Unlike the brains of other animals, human beings have larger brains and can think. The human brain has a cognitive capability which makes it different from other animals. The human cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and is divided into two hemispheres and both the hemispheres are connected by nerves. The human cerebrum is the largest part of the brain compared to the cerebrum of other animals. The human cerebrum gives a lot of advantages to human beings. Unlike animals, a human cerebrum can think, memorize, learn, speak, and perform other voluntary movements and this is what makes humans different from animals. Overall, the human cerebrum regulates the major functions performed by a human being.
Thus, the human cerebrum gives many advantages to human beings as the major functions are regulated by the human cerebrum only and it is also the largest part of the brain.
