Chapter 34.3, Problem 3MC
Summary Introduction
To describe:
“The events of adaptive immunity, starting with the entry of pathogen inside the host body and ending with the formation of memory cells”.
Concept introduction:
The body mechanism that protect against specific infections is known as adaptive mechanism or adaptive defense. The response of the adaptive immunity is carried by the lymphocytes. They recognize specific molecules (parts) of the foreign body and act against them.

contrast the difference between the adaptive and innate immune system. What cells are involved, which one is most specific and which one is responsible for long lasting immunity. Try to include as much detail as possible when contrasting these two arms of the immune system. Your initial post must be at least 150 words.
Name two cytokines that are thought to be involved in the inflammatory response to
viruses (cite your source).
Describe a component of the innate immune response to viral infection (name it and
explain how it works. Be sure you are talking about something that protects you from
viruses.)
Explain with as much detail as you are able why adaptive immunity speeds the body's response time to infection upon subsequent exposure.
