Question
Chapter 36, Problem 4P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The two similarities and two difference between actin and the microtubules should be determined.
Concept introduction:
Microfilaments, microtubules and intermediate filaments are thread-like structures present in the cytoplasm. They are distinguished by diameter, protein type, and their assembly. These structures are connected to other proteins forming the cytoskeleton that provides strength and shape to cells. Microfilaments can be said as the tiny rods of protein actin that form bundles or meshworks. They are responsible for providing cellular motility. They constitute myofibrils that contract or shorten muscle cells.

nerve impulses. Neurotransmitters are packaged by the cell into small, membrane-
bound sacs called vesicles. Upon receiving a chemical signal, the vesicles move
towards the cell membrane and fuse with it, releasing the enclosed
neurotransmitters from the terminal end of the nerve cell. Which organelle is most
likely responsible for packaging neurotransmitters into a vesicle?
Mitochondria
