Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The location of central atoms in the given balloon models is to be stated. The shapes that would be assumed by a group of five balloons and by a group of six balloons are to be proposed.
Concept introduction:
The shape of chemical molecules and ions is predicated by different theories and models such as VSEPR theory. When a central atom is surrounded by two atoms, then the shape of the molecule is assumed as linear. When a central atom is surrounded by three atoms, then the shape of the molecule is assumed as triangular. When a central atom is surrounded by four atoms, then the shape of the molecule is assumed as tetrahedral.

- 1. Metals are bonded by metallic bond, that is protons in a sea of electrons which give them their characteristic conductivity. If the electric current flows from one end to the other end using a copper wire to bridge the gap, the extra electron given through the electric current will cause the sea of electrons in the copper to? * A. The electrons given will just be deposited in the sea of electrons with nowhere to go. O B. The electrons given will occupy the space of the electrons that were pushed. C. The electrons given will not flow to the metal because of repulsion. O D. The electrons given will travel to the other end through the proton movement.arrow_forwardFOLLOW THE FORMAT USED IN THE EXAMPLE!arrow_forwardUsing your knowledge of how write formulas if ionic compounds cations and anions.
