Summary Introduction

To explain:

The way in which a flagellum works in the presence of an attractant.

Concept introduction

In bacteria, the most important structure that provides motility is flagella. They are used to move in the direction of the favorable environments such as light or food (a behavior called chemotaxis). Structurally, they are longer in size and extend from the cell surface. The flagellum is composed of a filament, a hook, and a basal body. Flagellar arrangements includes peritrichous, lophotrichous, and amphitrichous.
