The male reproductive system consists of a pair of testes, which serves as the male reproductive unit. This is so, as it is involved in the production of sperms and androgens. The process of formation of sperm (spermatogenesis) is strictly under the control of hormones. Besides stimulating spermatogenesis, these hormones also result in secondary sexual characteristics in males.
