To discuss:
How heredity and health are affected not only by genetic changes but also by epigenetic changes.
Introduction:
Heredity is passed from one generation to the next through both genetic and non-genetic (epigenetic) inheritance. There are several mechanisms that alter the expression of a gene apart from a mutation. Alternation of a gene expression without changing the DNA bases is known as epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation, histone modification, and miRNA expression. DNA methylation (addition of a methyl group to cytosine bases of DNA sequence) inhibits gene expression, which is a normal biological process involved in human development. All the genes are not active in every cell; only few genes are active and others are inhibited by DNA methylation and other mechanisms based on the cell types (example, embryonic cells).

Even though neither of them had the disease, they wanted to know Before Sam was born, his parents decided to go for genetic counseling. That was why Sam and his brother or helped his parents to provide Sam with the earliest possible diagnosis. They understood disease and were prepared to provide Sam with the best treatments available. They beoe involved with the Children's Sickle Cell Foundation and took part in the support groups. Gene counseling prepared Sam's parents to help Sam deal with the sickle cell disease. Now theywish to have another child and have informed their physician thatthey intend to greatly increase the amount of supplements theytake to increase the epigenetic effects in their child. The physiciancautioned them that studies available in human trials showno effect of choline on learning and that excess intake of folateduring pregnancy may be associated with an increased risk ofautism spectrum disorder in the child.
