Question
Chapter 48, Problem 16PIAT
Summary Introduction
To review:
The additional information required to decide whether diabetic parents should intentionally infect their child with intestinal worms.
Introduction:
Heligmosomoides polygyrus (Hp) is a naturally occurring roundworm of rodents. It inhabits the intestinal tract of rodents. The studies revealed that the percentage of developing diabetes type 1 is significantly decreased in mice prone to disease after Hp infection.
Based on this evidence, it has to be decided whether diabetic patients can intentionally infect their children with the worms to decrease the risk of diabetes. Although the intestinal worm infection may decrease the risk of diabetes, it can cause potential side-effects as well.

Catalysts, both in the form of enzymes and ultraviolet light, are required for Vitamin D synthesis. The two main sources of active Vitamin D are diet and sunlight.
