The ways in which eutrophication can be reduced in waterways.
Introduction:
Biodiversity is known as the variety of life in a location which is determined by the number of various species in that location. But, many species lost their habitat due to some factors. These factors may effects the biodiversity. There are several ways that species can lose their habitats. Some factors of species extinction are - overexploitation, disruption of habitat, destruction of habitat, fragmentation, pollution, acid precipitation, eutrophication, etc.
Explanation of Solution
Eutrophication is a form of water pollution. It destroys the underwater habitats for fish and other species. The ways to reduce eutrophication is given below.
1.
Reducing the use of chemical fertilizers- Chemical fertilizers and other substances rich in nitrogen and phosphorus help extensive growth of algae in the waterways. Some algae also give off toxins that poison the water supply for other organisms. By reducing the use of chemical fertilizer we can reduce eutrophication.
2.
Waste water management- By improving the purifying performance of waste water treatment plants may reduce eutrophication.
3.
Filtration- Implementation of effective filter ecosystems to remove harmful chemicals found in the run-off water.
Thus, we can reduce eutrophication by using the filtration, managing waste water, and reducing the use of chemical fertilizers.
