Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The study of the advantages and disadvantages of using ELISA instead of a protein microarray to study a proteome is to be discussed.
Concept information:
An organism contains many proteins that perform various functions in the organism’s body. The sum total of all the proteins in the organism’s body is known as the proteome and proteomics is the analysis of the interaction between all the proteins of the body.
ELISA stands for Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay. It is a technique used for the identification of proteins with the help of the interaction between the proteins and the antibodies.
Protein microarrays, also known as the protein chips, are small plates on which more than thousands of protein samples are stuck.
