Chapter 5, Problem R21RQ
Program Plan Intro
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is used to exchange management information among network devices.
- Many protocols are available to support network management, but the SNMP is the simplest, easiest, and most widely used; hence the most preferable protocol is SNMP.
- Also SNMP is having an industry standard, formed by the Internet Engineering Task Force; which is formerly designed to manage Internet components.
- This SNMP can be used to manage Wide Area Network (WAN) and telecommunication systems.

Explain the purpose of a gateway in the OSI model and its role in connecting disparate network environments.
Explain the purpose and benefits of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) in network monitoring and management.
Description of network segmentation in the proposed network
Explanation of how network segmentation contributes to defense in depth (e.g., isolating critical systems, limiting the impact of a security breach)
Describe how the proposed network design incorporates the idea of network segmentation. Describe the process of network segmentation, which entails breaking the network up into various subnetworks or segments, each with their own security measures and access regulations. Reiterate how network segmentation helps with defence in depth by limiting the impact of security breaches, isolating key systems, and restricting lateral attacker movement within the network.
