Introduction:

Fungi are organisms that have eukaryotic cells with special compounds like chitin in cell wall and ergosterol in cell membranes. Microscopic fungi can be divided into two types- yeasts and molds. Yeasts have a characteristic round to oval shape and it reproduces by asexual means by growing a bud on its surface that pinches off to form two cells from one. Molds, in contrast, comprise of long thread-like cells called hyphae. Some pathogenic molds are capable of existing in yeast form depending on growth conditions.
