Concept explainers
To explain: The effect on the magnetic force as the distance between two magnetic poles decreases.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A magnet exerts a force on other magnets and magnetic material due to its magnetic field.
When two magnetic poles are brought closer, in other words, when the distance between them is decreased, the magnetic force of attraction between two unlike poles increases. Each magnet exerts a greater force on the other due to their magnetic fields as they are brought closer together.
Conclusion:
The magnetic force increases as the distance between the two magnetic poles decreases.
