Question
Chapter 7, Problem 5P
Summary Introduction
To mark: The sets of spots in the given figure that may represent proteins that differ by the number of phosphates they carry.
Concept introduction: Two-dimensional (2-D) gel electrophoresis contributes in analysis of protein mixtures. This method separates proteins in on the basis of two properties. The first dimension is isoelectric focusing that separates proteins according to their isoelectric points and second dimension is SDS-PAGE that separates proteins according to their molecular weights. Each protein in the mixture can be resolved in this way and the relative amount of protein can be evaluated.
