Concept explainers
To determine: If the concentration of transcription regulator were same in nucleus of eukaryotic cell as well as in bacterium, whether the binding of regulator be equal in both of these.
Concept introduction:
Transcription initiates at promoter region. There are regulatory switch regions located upstream of the promoter that help in the binding of transcription factors to the promoter region. The transcription regulators are a group of proteins that recognize their specific cis-regulatory sequence dispersed in the genome. They work cooperatively, and determine which genes are to be transcribed and their rate of transcription. The transcription in prokaryotes is controlled by one or two regulatory proteins but in eukaryotic genes, it is complex because of genome size and different cell types.
