The unpaired bone of the neurocranium is termed as the sphenoid bone. It is located in the front of the temporal bone, middle of the skull, and the base of the occipital bone. Its shape resembles the butterfly and bat with wings. It is divided into three portions, a median portion, two greater wings, to lesser wings, and the pterygoid processes of the sphenoids.
