Interpretation:
To rank the given organic halides in order of increasing SN2 reactivity.
Concept introduction:
SN2 reaction is a special type of reaction mechanism in organic chemistry. It is kind of nucleophilic substitution reaction. Nucleophilic substitutions are Lewis acid-base reactions. In this reaction the nucleophile donates its electron pair, the alkyl halide (Lewis acid) accepts it, and the C-X bond is heterolytically cleaved. Alkyl halides are organic molecules that contains a halogen atom X bonded to sp3 hybridized carbon atom. Alkyl halides are classified as primary (1°), secondary (2°), and tertiary (3°) depending on the number of carbons bonded to the carbon with the halogen.

- Rank the organic halides in each group in order of increasing SN1 reactivity. Br Br Br Br b. Br a.arrow_forwardPyridine forms a stronger Lewis acid-base complex with SO3 than SO2. However, pyridine forms a weaker complex with SF6 than with SF4. In this experiment, molecular bromine (Br2) is generated from the redox reaction of potassium bromate with hydrobromic acid. Write a balanced equation for this process. Briefly outline the mechanism by which Br2 brominates your aromatic compound.
