Metals have a quality known as ductility that allows them to be stretched like a wire without cracking. Metals that can be hammered into thin sheets without breaking are said to be malleable.
The capacity of a material to be beaten thin or even stretched like a wire without breaking would be known as its ductility. Most metals, including gold, silver, copper, erbium, terbium, and samarium, were good illustrations of ductile materials.
In contrast to non-malleable metals, which may shatter into fragments when struck with a hammer, malleable metals bend and twist into a variety of shapes. Metals like gold, iron, aluminum, copper, and silver are also types of malleable metals.
