Summary Introduction

To determine: What would likely happen in a cell if the ratio of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) was to become 1:1.

Introduction: Energy is necessary for all living organisms to perform their life processes. Living cells obtain energy in a different form and they also have the mechanisms to alter energy from one form to another form. ATP is known as the immediate “energy currency” of the cell. It is a nucleotide that consists of three main parts, namely adenine (a nitrogen-containing organic base), ribose (a 5-carbon sugar), and three phosphate groups.
