Answer to Problem 22STP

The process of the formation of the petroleum, natural gas and coal are decomposition, fermentation and anabolic reactions at high temperature and pressure for many years.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

The petroleum, natural gas and coal are the nonrenewable energy source. These are called fossil fuels as they are made of the biomass of the trees and animals. These can be used only once.

The fossil fuels are made by the long years of the natural processes. The various natural processes that convert the biomass into fuels are decomposition, fermentation and anabolic reactions. The biomass inside the earth undergoes to high temperature and pressure for long duration for the production of fossil fuels. The fossil fuel converts into various states of the matter due to the different conditions. The matter that undergoes to highest temperature and pressure converts into natural gas and other that undergoes less high conditions become petroleum and coal.

Conclusion:

Thus, the process of the formation of the petroleum, natural gas and coal are decomposition, fermentation and anabolic reactions at high temperature and pressure for many years.
