The second law of thermodynamics states that "in all energy exchanges, if net energy input or output is nil in a system, then the potential energy of the state will always be less in comparison to that of the initial state." This is also commonly referred to as entropy.

The second law of thermodynamics also states that the total entropy of the system increases over time as entropy can never be negative.

Entropy is the randomness of the system, which refers to the number of ways a substance can be arranged.

Explanation of Solution

The second law of thermodynamics states that, in all spontaneous processes, there is an increase in the total entropy and the process becomes irreversible. Since time is moving day by day, the total entropy is also increasing day by day. If time reverses, the entropy will decrease, which will contradict the second law of thermodynamics...
