The goal fo architectural and engineered construction drawings is to organize, clarify, and effectively convey an enormous amount of detailed information in order to describe how a complicated building, such as a medical clinic or net-zero house must be built. Andrew's construction drawings have a quality of sophistication that demonstrates his genuine understanding of the complex codes and project criteria. It is important to note, on all of the projects Andrew has been involved in, I have never had a change order; this is undoubetly due to the consistant high quality of his work. I have no doubt that his concetrated attention to detail will be a critical asset in his future career.

Welcome to The Five! Every two weeks I will present you with a list of five things that pertain to the architecture and engineering world. This blog will serve as a valuable resource for those in the building industry, designers, and owners alike. It is my intent that you will find the information useful in your daily business practices.

There are urgent calls for the building industry be renovated, as Auckland Council’s failing up to 40% of its building inspections. Auckland Council building control manager, Ian McCormick, says the push for Auckland to ramp up its housing supply is putting the construction industry under pressure, and seeing the quality of work take a dangerous dive (Tibshraeny, 2015). Shoddy buildings are going up in Auckland as the council struggles with "significant" quality issues including unskilled construction workers without proper supervision. The warning comes as more land is opened up for development in an effort to take some heat out of the property market. In this essay I will talk about the reasons and causes of the shoddy buildings increased, the quality of home buildings regulated in New Zealand, the measures to improve the situations and the key elements of the quality system for building of a residential home.

Further to this I enhanced my skills in the field of interior design while working with Mr.Vikram Phadke at Interspace Inc., Chennai as a Junior Architect and Project Manager. During this time I got an opportunity to put all the text book information to practice is real world situations and I also realized that the process or systems followed at site is very different from what is done in classrooms

As an aspiring Architectural Technologist I will be expected to possess a variety of skills which are valuable for any Architectural Technologist position. I will be studying and evaluating a building design of the Engineering and Computing Building, Coventry. I am to assess the structure, identifying, why the building was designed in the way it was, the impact, challenges and purposes. This will allow me to understand the integration of architectural and structural design.

In this assignment I will be looking at the structure and activates of the construction and built environment sector. These particular roles all play a massive part into the construction and maintenance of a building. Such as house Building which may be funded by a government grant, a private investor or a mixture of both. Schools & Hospitals are mainly funded by government or a PFI contract. Industrial & Commercial Accommodation may be funded by private company for their own use or letting them out to other companies. Utilities may be funded by the local councils with a combination from the government to supply the houses and building with adequate means of water and gas and sewers along with civil engineers to construct road and access to buildings. Reclamation may be funded by a private investor to develop land for means of building on. This may also incorporate the demolition of building and areas of land which could be make way for new developments. Building Maintenance & Facilities Management can be controlled by a private company working for a government origination.

Published in 2008, the Building Information Modeling Protocol Exhibit by the American Institute of Architects was developed in order to establish guidelines on the use of BIM throughout a project. This is important in that it has addressed several outstanding questions such as, the responsibilities for each element of the model, the authorized uses for the model, the extent to which users can rely on the model, the management of the model, and who takes ownership of the model. After developing a model for a dormitory building that belongs to the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, several examples can be shown that help support the compliance of the Building Information Protocol Exhibit.

Chapter 4 attracts the geometric substructure to organising forms and spaces of a building. It formulates supplementary principles that can be utilized to form rules behind a building. Order refers not to geometric balance, but to a condition that each part of a whole is exactly partial with reference to other parts and to its purpose so as to produce harmonious arrangement.
