Chapter 1, Problem 6STP
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: The Microscopic world and reason of its importance to chemist needs to be explained.

Concept Introduction: Chemistry is a fundamental science that investigates and studies molecules. Physical properties of any matter can be observed from either the microscopic and macroscopic level. In a microscopic world, objects are not visible with naked eyes. For example: Seeing individual leaves, veins and small branches of a tree.

Answer to Problem 6STP

The small particles that make up all matter are included in the Microscopic world. Chemists must observe matter and also, do experiments/ researches macroscopically and after then they make generalizations & propose microscopic explanations. Thus, the Microscopic world is so important to chemists.

Explanation of Solution

Chemistry is all about how it interacts to affect the structure, composition, as well as properties of substances. The macroscopic and microscopic world are the two worlds of the chemist.Microscopic and macroscopic, both are antonyms. A macroscopic world includes anything seen with the naked eye whereas, a microscopic worldincludes things not seen with the naked eye.

In the Microscopic world, objects are extremely small, and usually can be seen only through a microscope. The microscopic world of the chemist includes- a structure, arrangements, composition, etc. of any substance. A microscopic view of the world is very important to a chemist. Here, a chemist can develop new materials and new drugs for the disease. By this, a chemist can understand the arrangements of molecules and atoms.
