The biological significance of mixing up of regulatory and catalytic subunits of ATCase should be determined.
Concept Introduction:
Aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase) enzyme is involved in the committed step of pyrimidine synthesis. It catalyzes the reaction between aspartate and carbamoyl phosphate to produce N-carbamoylaspartate and inorganic phosphate. It contains two separate subunits, regulatory subunit, and a catalytic subunit.
