Introduction:

The apparent change in the frequency of the wave when there is a relative velocity between the observer and the source is referred as Doppler shift/ Doppler effect.

The apparent frequency depends on the relative velocity of between the source and observer. With increase in the speed, the apparent frequency increases. Thus, if the speed of the passing car is $30\text{ m/s}$ then it would exhibit greater frequency change than when the car moves at $10\text{ m/s}$ .
