Introduction:

When two instruments are close to a same pitch then pulsing sound occurs. It is normally called “beats”.

In acoustics, a beat is a pattern of interference between two sounds of slightly different frequencies. Such sound is perceived as a periodic difference in volume and its rate is the difference between two frequencies. While tuning musical instruments, beats can be easily recognized. While tuning two tones, if the pitch is close but not identical, then the difference in frequency produces beating or “beats”.
